Tentacle

After a lot of negotiating with the team at "Dramatic Panda" I eventually started working on the first tentacle out of the 4 they wanted. I began by using reference pictures of both an octopus and the fictional deity Cthulhu.

With the base model of the Tentacle finished i will be sending these screens to the Team at Dramatic panda to see if any changes are necessary.

Description

For this Project i had to find and communicate with an outside company and discuss the brief in detail. Using connections from college i was able to get in contact with a friend (Robert Miskimmon) who is the lead programmer of an Indie games development company called "Dramatic Panda" This Company currently specializes in 2D side-scrolling games and is working on a game currently titled "Under Development". After a few talks with the Programmer they asked me to model, rig and Texture a Bunny Rabbit. This sounded relatively easy and to be honest i was hoping for something a bit more challenging. Almost the next day however Rob contacted me again telling me of the change in plan. I was now to model an entire 3D Kraken sea monster.

This was clearly a massive leap up from a rabbit, but after some discussing we narrowed it down to 4 tentacles protruding vertically from water and a giant head also semi-submerged. Rob also asked that i give the Kraken a Cthulhu feel to it.

Rob was also kind enough to draw me up a quick concept of how the creature is to look on screen. It could have done with being a tad more detailed but the general message was received.
